About Us

All five New Horizons Child Development Centers are accredited by the National Early Childhood Program Accreditation (NECPA) and hold a DHS 3-Star rating or are aggressively working toward accreditation. Accreditation is a process by which programs prove their ability to provide childcare that best meets the needs of the children and their parents. In order to obtain this goal, the directors of each New Horizons center, along with their staff and teachers, completed a self-assessment of their own programs.

These directors have attended approved training, completed surveys to identify their strengths and weaknesses, then helped teachers receive training in areas such as curriculum development, behavior management and guidance of young children. The environment was evaluated to ensure that the highest standards of health and safety were met. When the directors were confident that their programs exceeded all expectations, a team of approved, independent evaluators, using a standardized rating scale, assessed each individual center to determine the quality of care provided to children.

Our Philosophy

At NHCDC, we strive to meet the needs of the whole child. Our curriculum centers around stimulating the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth of each child. We believe children learn primarily through active exploration and interaction with the environment. Therefore, we provide a hands-on environment, which allow children to touch, see, smell, and experiment. We provide children with blocks of time in which they are allowed to freely explore their planned environment with the guidance of their teacher.

Parents Welcome Here

Parents are an integral part of our program and we encourage their participation in every aspect of our program. They may be asked to serve as resource persons or as child advocates. During the course of the school year, they are always encouraged to come into the classroom and share their knowledge about their favorite subjects, books, etc.

Parent Handbook

New Horizons has compiled a handbook for you, the parent. It contains all of our rules, policies, procedures, programs, and much more helpful information. The NHCDC Parent Handbook is saved in an Adobe Acrobat (pdf) format. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view it. Click here to download.

Vaccination Policy

New Horizons CDC has a strict policy on vaccinations. Please review the policy and the schedule to keep your child up-to-date.

This chart provides an overview of vaccinations and immunizations required for children participating in child care programs in the State of Oklahoma. Consult your family physician for complete details. Remember, children will not be allowed to stay in any New Horizons Child Development Center unless required immunizations and associated records are up to date.

Weather Policy

The policy of NHCDC is that all of our centers remain open 5 days a week. However, there have been, and will probably be again, occasions when extreme weather conditions preclude safe operations and travel on local roadways poses a threat to parents, children, and the NHCDC staff.
